A 19th cent icon that has been created on a gesso soaked canvas and glued to a cedar board; a technique associated with southern Russia or the north-east Balkans.
Since purchased on the European art market, the icon has had paint loss restored. The main area of restoration being around the Saint’s hand holding his medicine chest. Consistency has also been restored in the background colour..
